Civil Engineering Intern

What I liked

I really enjoyed the staff at the Lehigh Valley office. They made my time there great. I loved the work I did everyday. I was lucky when I became an intern, because the location just lost two full time employees. I was given a lot of real work, and I was trusted to do it, which was great because I got to work on actual design projects. I learned so much from my coworkers and they were all really happy to teach me. I was full time and I had the ability to work overtime which was great because I got to feel the pressure of deadlines.

What I wish was different

I honestly wouldn't change a single thing about my internship. I genuinely woke up every day and wanted to go to work.

Advice

My biggest suggestion for other students who have been given the opportunity to become an intern at a company is to ask as many questions as you possibly can. If you put in the effort to be the best intern that you can and you show that you really care about what you are doing, your coworkers are going to want you to come back.

Civil Engineering Intern

What I liked

I loved being able to work on a wide range of engineering assignments throughout my internship. The variety of projects and assignments not only enhanced my skills and experience tremendously, but also helped keep the internship from becoming mundane.

Advice

One piece of advice I can share about my summer internship is to be social and never hesitate to ask questions. Aside from asking questions related to work or assignments, chat with coworkers and ask about their experience in their career. Find out what they enjoy about their career and what struggles they had to overcome to get where they are. Engaging in conversation with coworkers helps provide valuable insight into the career field and can make you a likable person at the same time!
