What I liked

I really liked the small data science team I worked with. One of my colleagues served as a mentor for me and made a huge effort to make sure I built a stellar project and become a better programmer and computer scientist.

What I wish was different

It would have been nice to work with them in person, but that's the nature of pandemics. During the internship, I wish I could have spent more time doing analytical work rather than development (which I got a chance to do towards the end of my internship).

Advice

Embrace APIs and frameworks. Avoid the mentality of "doing it yourself so it's done right". Other people who specialize in smaller operations have spent a huge amount of time developing abstractions. These abstractions immensly benefit your work life after you push yourself to learn how to use them.
