Access Health Intern

May - August 2019 • Greenville, SC

What I liked

I loved the welcoming work environment and the way that my coworkers were very responsive to any and all questions. The work was very interactive as I had the opportunity to attend a number of meetings and meet patients both in person and through phone. The case management and program implementations deepened my understanding of public health program research, implementation, evaluation, and grant application.

What I wish was different

Overall, it was a great experience, but I wish I received a bit more opportunities to sit in on board meetings and learn more about the department`s work with the rest of the hospital system.

Advice

Be very clear about what you want to learn about. The staff is very responsive, but if you don't communicate what you are interested in, you will be less likely to learn everything you can from their opportunities.
