It was my second summer with this family and I was happy to see the children again and how they have grown. One of the children has severe physical and mental disabilities but he is growing and improving so fast and I love seeing his further develop.

I wish that it would have been full time.

If you are going to nanny, ensure that you know and trust the family you will be working with and be confident that you will be a good fit for them (and them for you). I am thankful to have known this family from church, which made nannying for them such a familiar and comfortable experience.

My hours were flexible and the job was challenging. I could practice my French yet aid someone else in progressing their second language. The personal connection was encouraging and grounding while abroad.

The location, I had a 40 minute commute.

Don’t be afraid to apply for jobs you’re not perfect for
Allow yourself to have bad days but always finish
Be kind and gentle with others, you’d be surprised how often they’re going through the same things you are
