ProActive Physical Therapy

Physical Therapist Observer/Volunteer

June - August 2019 • Spring, TX

What I liked

Loved the atmosphere of the staff and good opportunity to grow in knowledge about the career I am hoping to pursue in the future.

What I wish was different

There is not much I would change about my experience. I loved the environment and the opportunities I had to interact and observe clinical work on patients.

Advice

Some advice I would share about this experience is to always have pen and paper to write your observations and be active in wanting to learn more.

Exercise Specialist/Physical Therapist Technician

May 2019 • Tucson, AZ

What I liked

I liked how I was trained quick and efficiently. I learned how to do each exercise, how to explain them, and what muscles they worked on. I also loved how I was able to work with patients so quickly. I got the full experience over the summer because I was able to work with the patients one-on-one every 30 minutes.

What I wish was different

This is more for right now, but I wish I had more time to spend there so I could work with the patients more often. Now that I am in school again, I am only floating which means I only help patients if a therapist needs extra help and it’s never guaranteed on the days I go in.

Advice

Make an effort. You get as much out as you put in. So take the time to ask the therapists questions, get to know the patients well, and be ready to help anyone who needs it.
