Progress Humanity

Project Manager

June - July 2019 • Washington, DC

What I liked

Working at Progress Humanity gave me the opportunity to not only refine the skills that I already had, but to work on and develop new skills that have since helped me further in my career. My mentor encouraged me to broaden my horizons and pushed me to become involved in events and programs that I would otherwise have thought were not related to my field of study. My superiors at Progress Humanity were also incredibly understanding and flexible when determining my schedule and work hours, meaning that I was able to dedicate more meaningful time to my work within the organization. Progress Humanity was a wonderful entrance into the workforce for me that not only provided dedicated mentorship and a constructive learning environment but pushed me outside of my comfort zone and expanded my horizons.

What I wish was different

Although my time at Progress Humanity was incredibly valuable, productive and educational for me, I do wish that my internship program had been extended and that I had had more opportunities to experience different parts of the organization's outreach.

Advice

I would advise people working with Progress Humanity to really value their time at Progress Humanity and to make use of all of the experiences and opportunities that this organization can offer. In particular, I would advise people to work closely with their mentors/superiors as that was an integral part of my experience at Progress Humanity.
