Prologue

Graphic Designer

August 2022 • Pasadena, CA

What I liked

I work remotely so the job is very flexible. You can have free time & work-life balance. There's no micromanagement & everyone is able to flourish in their roles. Very professional & easy people to work. The pay is generous. They care about your growth & let you have free range to help the company & to develop your skill sets. You aren't just a number & every job is important & you will be seen for your work. I was an intern & got hired as a long-term contractor.

What I wish was different

No complaints, very easy-going/professional place to work

Advice

You're in charge of your work so you must be self-motivated & responsible.

Summer Associate

June - September 2023 • Washington, DC

What I liked

My summer associateship taught me how to approach problems differently. The hands-on work helped me develop problem-solving skills that will benefit me in the future. Working alongside smart colleagues who are experts in their areas of expertise gave me critical exposure to the industry I'd be hard-pressed to find at a larger firm.

What I wish was different

I really enjoyed my internship and summer associateship--nothing to recommend!

Advice

If you're looking to gain exposure to public affairs or corporate reputation, this is the place to do it. There's a lot to learn, and being curious and demonstrating an ability to take on increasingly complex tasks goes a long way towards enriching your internship experience.

Consulting Intern

June - August 2022 • Washington, DC

What I liked

Of all my past professional experiences, the Prologue internship program was exceptionally rewarding. The firm is small enough that everyone gets along well, there's absolutely no clique-ish behavior, and the team spirit is strong. It felt like one of Prologue's top priorities was my personal development, giving me substantial input on a wide variety of assignments. And when I wanted to pick up certain skills, leadership worked with me to create opportunities to do so for client projects. The work structure was also excellent. I chose freely when to come into the office vs. work from home, and Prologue used no overbearing monitoring tools when I worked remotely. Despite colleagues scattered across the country, communication was consistently clear and anxiety-free. As a college student preparing to enter the professional world, I braced myself for the high-strung, 70+ hr/wk, rat-race culture I'd been reading about in so many job descriptions. Prologue is nothing like what I'd imagined, in the best way. Its leaders have cultivated a very unique environment of low stress and high expectations. If you're looking to balance a meaningful career experience with a full non-work life, this is a great option for you.

What I wish was different

Very few complaints about the experience. One thing is, the work assignment was inconsistent sometimes: I didn't have much to do for the first 1-2 weeks. But I believe I was Prologue's very first intern, and by now the internship program is better integrated into the firm.

Advice

You have nothing to lose from applying! Make sure to highlight your writing skills. Your writing sample should be whichever one reveals your best thinking. If you get the position: Take full advantage of the opportunity. Reach out to colleagues with questions, etc; don't worry, you're not being annoying! Taking initiative is well rewarded.
