What I wish was different
I wish I had more visibility into my upcoming work. For most of the internship, I was working on high priority projects that came out of nowhere as far as I could see. If I had some information on what I'd be doing next, I might have been able to simplify my work, accomplish more at once, and generally be more efficient.
Also, at the time, Proofpoint had a policy in place where work-study interns would be paid less, upwards of 40%, than the "normal" interns, even though they the would normally be there for much longer and would do the same work. Knowing that teammates and peers, that were newer and doing the same work, were being paid significantly more was very demotivating.
