Cake decorator apprentice
June 2021 - July 2022 • Lawrenceville, GA
What I liked
Publix is a great company, and one of my favorite characteristics about this company is that they prioritize customer service. Their bakery department is really great, because my supervisors and other associates were always informative and were always willing to help me. I really enjoyed this job! I enjoyed creating different desserts and decorating mini cakes. I thought my tasks were fun and enjoyed learning new creative skills.
What I wish was different
I wish I took more time to learn more skills. I became busy with my college classes, and was starting to lack, because I was working for much fewer hours.
Advice
Take time to develop as much skills as you can. It is very important to be versatile. It is also very important to know how to manage time, because cake decorators may have a lot going on. Sometimes they might have a lot of custom orders or regular desserts to produce.

Certified Pharmacy Technician
October 2020 • Stuart, FL
What I liked
I enjoy building relationships with the patients who regularly stop by the pharmacy to pick up their prescriptions. I also enjoy learning how to fill prescriptions and new ways I am able to help the patients.
What I wish was different
I wish there was a new hire with me when I first started. I felt like I was far behind everyone else that had been working there for a while. The pharmacy staff is willing to teach you, however, and will be patient with you while you learn on the job.
Advice
Do not be too hard on yourself when you first start this job! There is a lot to learn and it will come with time. Some of the pharmacy technicians who have worked there for a while still have questions when it comes to certain tasks.
