Queens Community House

Camp Counselor

July - August 2019 • Jackson Heights, NY

What I liked

Of course, working with the children. They all had different personalities and it was wonderful to see them engage with one another while participating in activities. There was never a dull moment with them, each of them always brought something new to the table.

What I wish was different

The only thing that could be improved is the training process. The employees were given a training video to watch and answer questions, and I feel as if it was a bit rushed so maybe that could be different.

Advice

One piece of advice that I would like to share about my experience is that when it comes to working, whether that maybe with children or adults, patience is an imperative quality. There are some people who are difficult to work with, but a calm and collected mind will keep you going, regardless of the obstacles in your path.
