About Recology

What you might consider trash, we call resources – just a simple change in perspective. This is why we describe what we do as resource recovery.

We create recycling programs and build infrastructure to recover recyclables and reduce landfill-bound materials. By seeking out and utilizing new technologies to sort and extract materials, we’re able to return organic materials to farms as compost, and provide raw recycled materials (such as plastic or aluminum) to manufacturers.

While you’re sorting your compost and recycling, we’re discovering ways to recover and reuse both. Take a simple plastic bottle, for example. These plastics can be recycled and made into new products, like North Face jackets or vehicle machinery. You might even see your old furniture as part of an art installation one day. This recovery process is crucial in reducing the impact of waste on our environment.

Our Waste Zero mission represents a fundamental shift from traditional waste management to resource recovery. Our vision at Recology is to create a world without waste by developing and discovering sustainable resource recovery practices that can be implemented globally.

This begins by building an exceptional Resource Ecosystem – one that both protects the environment and sustains the local community. It’s a ‘closed loop’ ecosystem that makes it possible for our communities to achieve high landfill diversion and meet their sustainability goals.

“Working in operations for Recology gave me on-the-ground experience to learn more about the resource recovery industry and gain an appreciation for what those in this industry do on a daily basis to keep our communities clean. Being given a project to fully design and manage allowed me to work both autonomously and collaboratively with many stakeholders, which immensely enhanced my communication and organization skills. ”
