leasing agent

July 2019 • Provo, UT

What I liked

It is a great opportunity to learn the ins and outs of student housing. My work schedule is built around my class schedule. Redstone also has a lot of opportunities to step up and move up in the company

What I wish was different

My property is a good training property for property managers so I have had three separate managers in my time here which makes the work life feel unstable.

Advice

In student housing you have to move fast to make sure that all you residents remain happy. If you have something that you could do, do it! it'll help you in the long term so you don't get bogged down with work.

Lots of good experience from having a lot of autonomy and lots to do. Helped me learn quickly how to develop Excel models and learn a new business market.

I wish I was paid a bit more and had more training.

Advice

Work makes school so much more fulfilling. I highly recommend either working during school or taking the summers off to work.

Leasing Specialist

November 2017 • Provo, UT

What I liked

I’ve liked the flexibility and the personable aspects of the job. I get to talk to a lot of different people, mostly my age also pursuing degrees and it helps me figure out what I want and not feel so alone in young adult struggles.

What I wish was different

The communication, sometimes it’s difficult to stay organized because we aren’t always all on the same page about issues and it has the potential to cause unnecessary confusion.

Advice

To keep working hard and if you have someone you don’t necessarily got along with in your workplace like I did, you have to learn how to tactfully interact with these kinds of people. I learned a valuable lesson: Just because you disagree with someone, doesn’t mean you have to let them know.
