What I liked
I have been volunteering as a crisis counselor at Response Crisis Center since last year, it has been an opportunity that significantly impacted my life. The staff here are almost unrealistically kind and welcoming, and they have prepared me to handle hotline and lifeline calls in such a way that I feel confident during crisis. I feel comfortable being a non-judgmental stable presence for those in their time of need, and I would argue these skills are transferable across disciplines regardless of what you plan to do down the road. The most remarkable thing about Response is how we much we grow as individuals while we're here, I've drawn a tremendous sense of purpose from this experience and I'm grateful to be able to contribute in a meaningful way.
