Patience is so important in a setting where you are working with people with special needs. Go in with a very open mind and you will find people who will welcome you and help you along the way!

What I liked
I love getting to work within the community of people with disabilities and ensuring they are able to experience summer camp as any typical functioning child or adult can. I also truly love all the great connections I've made with my fellow coworkers and the campers.
What I wish was different
The pay rate is not very good for the amount of hours you are working but it is worth it to be there working directly with the campers.
Advice
You must be a patient person and be willing to work long hours without breaks sometimes. You also must be willing to put everything you can into the job, which can become draining but it's the most enriching experience of your life.

What I liked
I loved my experience at this camp. I enjoyed the community that was built over the two weeks and the amazing individuals I got to meet.
What I wish was different
I wish wish I would have stepped out of my comfort zone a bit more but I look forward to doing that more next summer.
Advice
I would remind everyone to have fun and try to build connections with the campers as much as you can.

If you've never worked a summer camp, or with special needs individuals. You should work here. Everyone should experience this amazing summer.
