I really liked working with children of the ages of 5 to 9. I loved going on field trips as well as swimming with the kids. I liked that the kids looked up to me and wanted to be a counselor just like me when they got older. They would follow me around and try to take charge like I would. I really liked the children because they were funny and were really interested in the games.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had gotten more hours to be with the children daily instead of 3 days a week. It was a really fun job because I wanted to be there everyday.
Advice
I think everyone should be a summer camp counselor especially if you are involved in Psychology or dealing with children because this job was very hands on and you need patience working with children.
