Software Development In

May 2020 • Washington, DC

What I liked

Working with this team was very motivating and educational. They allowed to work hands on with what they are working on, and gave freedom to pick which projects I was interested. They offered a lot of support when I needed it, and I learned a lot while I was there.

What I wish was different

Being able to go to DC would have allowed me to get started a lot quicker, but due to COVID this was not possible(they do have a great remote workflow setup within the company, though).

Advice

With this internship, you will get out of it what you put into it. By choosing tasks that excite you, you will be more motivated to work on things and will get things done faster and grow as a developer.

Sales Associate

May 2020 • Washington, DC

What I liked

I really enjoyed the collaboration between multiple departments and how I was always treated as an important part of the team. The internship allowed me to work within various fields like politics and technology while increasing my business acumen. The company is very supportive and promotes success at all levels through concepts like teamwork and encouragement.

What I wish was different

I wish I'd been able to work in person however due to the COVID-19 pandemic my internship was online working remotely.

Advice

I would say be prepared to learn about more facets of business and politics than you expect. The internship does a great job of showing interns how to view both the private and public sectors holistically.

Executive Assistant Intern

April 2020 • Washington, DC

What I liked

My internship with RumbleUp enabled me to gain valuable experience at the intersection of business, politics and technology. Right from the start I felt like I was working on real, important tasks and contributing. I was given the opportunity to work with multiple teams, which I really appreciated. Also, they were very flexible and understanding with my availability.

What I wish was different

I would have loved the chance to work in person, but that was out of their hands.

Advice

Embrace the chance to work on different projects for different teams. Not many internships offer this breadth and depth of experience in such an exciting field.

Digital Marketing Intern

May 2020 • Washington, DC

What I liked

They were very flexible with hours and school schedules. I got to work 100% remote which was a blessing during the pandemic. I was pushed to learn and try new things.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been able to travel to DC to meet the team, but I know how hard that would have been during the pandemic.

Advice

Someone before me rejected the position because they would have made more money being a golf caddy. Always consider how a position looks on a resume, what practical technical experience you can gain, and what connections and recommendations you can gain before being picky about compensation. It’s very short sided to choose money over experience.
