I loved being able to help young refugees work on their English skills. It was really rewarding and amazing to see them improve! I also met new people and learned more about the refugee support services offered in my area.
What I wish was different
I wish my job would have required me to be in person more so I could have physically engaged with more students.
Advice
Be patient and adapt. Working with refugees means that there are cultural differences and expectations. Being able to not sweat the small stuff is huge!
