Ryobi Die Casting (USA), Inc

Quality Intern

May - August 2018 • Shelbyville, IN

What I liked

I really enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the fun team-building and volunteer events that HR planned for the interns over the summer. I met and talked to so many fun and interesting people over the summer, and I loved it. I actually still talk to a lot of them through Facebook and text, and I still hang out with the other Rose-hulman interns that I got to know while I was there. With the quality position, I also got the opportunity to go to customer facilities and see our products go from the beginning of our casting processes through some of the machining and assembly processes at their facilities. It was really cool to be able to see the bigger picture, and actually get to meet the customers and see their perspective as well.

What I wish was different

Advice

My advice would be to branch out and talk to everyone you can., don't stop with your mentor or the other engineers. I met so many people over the summer from various plants and departments, and I got a lot of really unique perspectives from people throughout the company. You can learn a lot from each person there, and it's way more fun when you're able to chat with pretty much anyone you come across. I would also suggest you get involved with the other interns and employees and do fun things outside of work. I had a lot of new experiences this summer, and it was amazing.
