San Francisco Rising

About San Francisco Rising

San Francisco Rising is an alliance of long-standing (10-45 years old) grassroots organizations organizing African-American, Latino, Chinese, and Filipino communities in San Francisco for housing & worker rights, environmental & racial justice, and youth & women’s empowerment. We came together to build the political power of our communities to win lasting change on a broad set of issues. We have helped win a $15 minimum wage, Free City College, stronger renter protections, and Sanctuary protections for immigrants. In addition to San Francisco campaigns, SFR helped found Bay Resistance, a vehicle to defend our communities from right wing attacks in the wake of Trump’s election.

Student canvasser

June 2019 - August 2019 San Francisco, CA
“We canvassed at college campuses in San Francisco and talked to many students about student debt and how we can work together to make education free, because it is a human right! We called voters over the phones and worked on organizing events to spread the word on free college as well as provide resources for students when it comes to food and housing insecurity! ”
