Training and Development Co-op

January 2021 • Wooster, OH

What I liked

Very challenging and mentally stimulating role. Paired with my colleg education, this experience has equipped me to enter the field of my choice.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have been able to start sooner! Due to covid, that was not possible.

Advice

You get out what you put in. Look for development and learning opportunities, and this will be a rewarding experience!

Manufacturing Engineering Intern

April 2021 • Cheraw, SC

What I liked

I like how the internship is project-based. I was told what to do and some information about the project. Whenever I had questions I would ask whoever gave the project or one of the operators on the floor. Since school started back they allowed me to work Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1:30 to 5. Still, even, my boss lets me take off work for school and other events/activities.

What I wish was different

I wish the drive would have been shorter. From my house during the summer, it was an hour and 15 minutes about to get there, and I would have to leave by 6:40 at the latest. Living on campus, decreased the time to 50 minutes, which isn't a big difference but I only had to drive three days a week compared to the 5 days a week during the summer.

Advice

Operators are very helpful with answering questions.

Engineering Co-op

May - August 2019 • Wooster, OH

What I liked

Engineering, programming, Finite Element Analysis. Nice people, good work environment.

What I wish was different

Less meetings, administration, co-op fairs, etc. It took up about %15-20 of my time.

Advice

Never buy a burger from the cafeteria. They should pay you to eat that.

Mechanical Engineering Co-op

May - August 2019 • Wooster, OH

What I liked

I enjoyed the work given to me by the full-time engineers at the company. The work was meaningful and provided good experience. I do not believe that any of my projects were just "busy-work".

What I wish was different

Nothing for this co-op, I would return to the same department based on my co-op experience with it.

Advice

Take the opportunity to ask questions and learn about how the work you are doing affects the company as whole and if it does. Most students want to make an impact and many of the departments at this company will let you do that if you want.

Co-op

May - August 2018 • Wooster, OH

What I liked

Being close to home, getting to know people and being able to learn about the working environment early on.

What I wish was different

Quicker times to get co-ops in the system to be able to do work. Other than that it was a great experience.

Advice

Go in with an open mind to any co-op and learn how the company does things.
