One piece of advice i would give is do not be afraid to ask superiors questions, they want to hear from you.

Marketing Intern
May - August 2021 • Pittsburgh, PA
What I liked
My team was full of really incredible people who fostered a great environment for me to help me grow. I loved being part of a small team because I was able to build relationships with everyone on my team.
What I wish was different
I wish there had been more opportunities for me to meet other interns in the program, but this was largely due to the online nature of the internship due to COVID-19.
Advice
Don't be afraid to reach out to people on your team and ask for more work or tell them what kind of work you wish you were doing more of.

Audit Intern
May - July 2019 • Columbus, OH
What I liked
I enjoyed the opportunity to travel to client sites and visit with the management of other organizations in completing audit engagements. It was a great opportunity to work with a number of different staff and seniors on projects to get a feel for the company culture and what a full time position might be like within the organization. Certain shareholders and managers were really helpful and offered a lot of great insights/ advice about a career in public accounting.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had more responsibilities, being summer the amount of work typically was not enough to keep busy for the entire week. The time in the office was not very productive.
Advice
I would advise anyone participating in an internship to ask a ton of questions. Identify a mentor and try to schedule time to speak with them periodically throughout your internship. Every interaction you have with someone shapes their perception of you. Organizations talk to everyone you came in contact with when determining whether to offer you a full time position, because ultimately companies hire individuals they want to work with.

Audit Intern
May - July 2018 • Pittsburgh, PA
What I liked
The experience and level of learning that I received. I learned that I want to have a career in external auditing.
What I wish was different
I wish that the internship would have been a little longer and extended into August so I could continue learning.
Advice
I would recommend being yourself during interviews and don't expect opportunities to fall out of the sky. It took hard work to get to Schneider Downs and it was well worth it. I received a full-time job offer and internships are well worth it.
