Sea Turtles 911

About Sea Turtles 911

Sea Turtles 911 is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of marine turtles and their habitats, which includes the ocean and beaches. Thousands of sea turtles are being slaughtered and sold in the illegal trade market for their shell and meat. To respond to this emergency crisis, Sea Turtles 911 volunteers give the turtles a voice and educate the public about both the devastating decline of the turtle populations, including plastic pollution issues affecting their habitats, and what people can do to help give the animals a chance at survival. The organization hosts an Internship Program in Hawaii and China which provides students and young professionals with experiences working on the 'frontlines' of endangered species conservation and research. Students gain unique work experiences while making an impact to save an ancient species from extinction.

“Overall it was a great internship with lots of opportunities. Management allowed me to work on what I thought was interesting and would be most beneficial for my career. They helped in anyway they could and wanted to help further my career. It was a fun experience living in Hawaii with the other interns and learning about Sea Turtle Conservation.”
