Sea Turtles 911

About Sea Turtles 911

Sea Turtles 911 is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of marine turtles and their habitats, which includes the ocean and beaches. Thousands of sea turtles are being slaughtered and sold in the illegal trade market for their shell and meat. To respond to this emergency crisis, Sea Turtles 911 volunteers give the turtles a voice and educate the public about both the devastating decline of the turtle populations, including plastic pollution issues affecting their habitats, and what people can do to help give the animals a chance at survival. The organization hosts an Internship Program in Hawaii and China which provides students and young professionals with experiences working on the 'frontlines' of endangered species conservation and research. Students gain unique work experiences while making an impact to save an ancient species from extinction.

“I liked being a lead of the program and getting to see sea turtles”

“I enjoyed the professional and personal growth opportunities during this internship. I really liked networking with people who are in my future career industry as this has allowed me to connect with new mentors to help guide me after graduation. I was able to work with experts to design and implement my own creative research project, which I am in the process of publishing in a peer reviewed journal now. I also enjoyed leadership experience here as I got the opportunity to work with the local community by leading a team of volunteers to do beach cleanup and other events to promote environmental conservation. Overall, the time here was super positive, amazing, definitely a life-changing experience for me. ”
