I was able to develop strong leadership and organizational skills through running the daily operations of a campaign field office. I learned so much about the inner workings of a campaign and what it really takes to get elected in a highly competitive midterm election.
What I wish was different
My role was constantly in flux, as was the leadership above me. I wish I had been given clear guidance and expectations for my role straight from the start.
Advice
Campaigns can be a lot of fun to work on, but can also lead to a high burn out rate. Know your limitations, and pace yourself through practical goal setting day to day.
