Sentry

Associate Software Developer

April 2021 • Menomonie, WI

What I liked

Loved the work environment, the teams I was on, and the management system. It is obvious Sentry cares about its associates and makes a clear effort to make sure their employees enjoy their work. The onboarding process is extremely smooth as well, since the managers are intent on making sure you understand what is going on by the end of your onboarding process. The environment is geared towards learning new skills that will help you greatly in the future, and there is no pressure to do perfectly. You are encouraged to ask questions and fail, provided you try again of course.

What I wish was different

Not much, this position has been pretty much perfect.

Advice

Be okay with being "comfortably confused", because you will be. It is how the industry works. Try to enjoy learning new things, because you will be learning new things indefinitely in this industry.

Bilingual Inbound Call Center Rep

March 2019 • Scottsdale, AZ

What I liked

The pay really helps relieve stress in being able to keep up with my expenses! The work environment is amazing and the people are great! The job is accessible to learn and they work great with student's schedules, which allows me to keep schooling as my priority.

What I wish was different

Location is the only issue I see, I live far and have to spend an hour or so driving to and from work at times and that takes 2 hours out of the day.

Advice

Always go in with confidence! New experiences are great and this was something I never thought I would work in so I went in with all my past job experiences and saw opportunities to learn something new as well as utilize what I have learned already throughout working at other jobs.

Accounting Intern

May - August 2019 • Stevens Point, WI

What I liked

The internship program at Sentry really focused on getting their interns used to the Central Wisconsin area. We did many activities that allowed us to see what life in Central Wisconsin would be like including, brewery and winery tours, a trip to Devils Lake, and much more. Sentry also got many of the executives involved in the internship program. We heard from over 10 executives about their experience at Sentry and how we could benefit the companies as interns from their perspective.

What I wish was different

While the executives were being interviewed in front of us, it became obvious that they were being asked the same questions as all the other executives. I wish they would have been asked different questions, so we could have gotten different information from each of them.

Advice

Taking the time to search for quality internships is extremely important, even if you have to research on your own. I am extremely grateful that I came across Sentry. Lastly, making connections and building your network is always something to take advantage of when the opportunities present themselves.
