Serving Seniors began in 1970 as a place for food-insecure seniors to get a hot meal. Since Serving Seniors' inception, it is now an industry leader in providing full wrap-around services for seniors in the San Diego area. In addition to congregate dining sites, meals are delivered to home-bound seniors; social workers are available to assist seniors with various agencies; nurse case managers are available to help seniors with day-to-day health concerns; there are on-going learning programs; civic engagement groups; exercise classes, and a dental center to help address the various needs of the whole person.
The Serving Seniors mission statement is "To help seniors in poverty live healthy and fulfilling lives".
