Sevan Multi-Site Solutions

Field survey intern

May - August 2019 • Fort Collins, CO

What I liked

I got to work from home and travel for work, both of which were nice.

What I wish was different

I wish I would’ve been able to train in person more than I did.

Advice

It’s fun to travel for work, but it does get lonely at times. Working at home is nice, but it is important to stay on task and not get easiest distracted.

Assistant Project Coordinator (co-op)

May - August 2018 • Cincinnati, OH

What I liked

The flexibility of working hours as well as working within the comfort of my own home. It was also an unbelievable experience learning about construction management from a different point of view. It is one thing to have your construction trailer a couple feet from the job site, but at Sevan, your construction site is hundreds of miles away. More importantly, you’re managing 30 to 50 sites a month that are hundreds of miles away. Learning that process, the difficulty, the liability, was all outstanding for me. Additiaionaly, the focus on employee (or co-op) satisfaction is unbelievable. I felt like I mattered and was an integral part of the team. I was very happy to be working at Sevan

What I wish was different

I wish the onboarding process along with delivery of supplies was a little more streamlined. My first day was a little confusing and wasn’t really on my feet until the end of the week with my supervisors, responsibilities, procedures, etc.

Advice

Time management is key. Working from home takes a lot more stamina to stay focused and organized. It takes some getting used to, but eventually you learn the ways.
