ShanghaiTech University

Biology Laboratory Assistant

June - August 2018 • Shanghai, China

What I liked

I enjoyed the flexibility of my laboratory hours, the mentorship the graduate students and PI in my lab provided, as well as learning new exciting techniques in neuroscience laboratory. I greatly enjoyed being able to take part in important experiments.

What I wish was different

I wish there were slightly more independence and structure to my personal experience, or a final research project/something that I could present.

Make clear if you would like time to explore China, or expect to be working in the lab the majority of the time, before accepting the job offer or applying. Don't be afraid to use your lab members and PI as resources because they are very happy to help you and incredibly welcoming.
