Considering the transition to a new program director, it went really good.

Advice

Be prepared to spend almost 95% of your time on campus and with the student from the start of the job to the end of the job.

I liked getting to meet more people and show them around campus.

I wish that the day was smoother but it was not the staffs fault, it was just crazy days.

Blackboard Student Assistant

What I liked

I enjoyed helping professors resolve issues with course content and course structure within Blackboard. I also enjoyed helping students with various issues, such as account information or course access. I found the learning experience in areas of technical support and learning management system administration to be beneficial in preparing me for a future career.

What I wish was different

I wish I had utilized downtime on my job during the summer more efficiently to do things such as study materials for future courses in order to make the courses easier to understand when I actually took them.

Advice

Use every opportunity to learn more about the systems used in your job and how experience with them will apply to any future jobs. Also, take every opportunity to learn new job skills or improve any job skills that will apply to future jobs.

The two other coordinators I worked with were helpful in the transition between resident assistant and residence coordinator.

I wish I had a better understanding of the role and the things I could have done during my internship.

What I liked

I really enjoyed being an RA for Shawnee State University's Upward Bound Math and Science Program. I was able to truly connect with the high school students and help them learn many different skils.
