What I liked
I really enjoyed my first internship placement with SHIELDs working as a Mental Health Case Manager. I was able to shadow different trust building activities with the young children and see how therapist work with toddlers. As for my second internship with this agency, I enjoyed receiving knowledge and information on resources within my community.
What I wish was different
My second internship wasn't as pleasurable as my first placement within SHIELDs due to some communications issues and approaches to learning. I wish I would have been able to shadow more before being thrown into the Case management.
Advice
Advocate for yourself. it is important to make sure you are being supported through the process to have an optimal learning experience.
