The experiences I had were all hands on, and I learned many important skills that I can use in other jobs. I got to do lots of record keeping, hands on with the turkeys, and various maintenance jobs around the farm.
What I wish was different
Advice
This job has totally changed how I think. Before I started, I thought I really wanted to be a small animal veterinarian, however this job has opened my eyes and made me realize that poultry is ultimately what I want to pursue.

What I liked
I loved taking care of the turkeys on a daily basis, working with such an amazing group of people, getting in shape, and learning something new everyday.
What I wish was different
I wish more time was spent working with the turkeys, but a lot of time in between caring for them we did odd jobs around the farm, like mow the grass, organize the shop, fix equipment, and build things.
Advice
Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone! The entire experience helped me learn something new and valuable every day. Take the initiative to want to learn and do more.
