Software Engineering Intern, Infrastructure Team
May - August 2020 • Boston, MA
What I liked
Excellent company culture with high transparency. Our intern class met with several executives and managers who gave us their insight and were open to our questions. My projects were real-world and were solving real problems for the business. I had a lot of freedom to define the core technologies of my implementation and make suggestions to improve existing solutions. The people were friendly and helpful. Overall an excellent experience.
What I wish was different
Individual contributors sometimes worked without good awareness of their teammates' work, code style or existing solutions that could be extended. More frequent feedback and collaboration could have increased the productivity.
Advice
Silicon Labs is growing rapidly in the software (QA/Infrastructure) devision and values initiative very highly to improve and expand. Be ready to ask plenty of questions to the friendly coworkers!
