Engineering Intern

What I liked

Fantastic group of engineers in a small company. Allows direct collaboration with coworkers as well as opportunities to learn from others with a larger more advanced skillset. Small company size meant I was able to shadow every activity from business management, payroll, brainstorming, CAD, manufacturing, testing, and packaging. Due to small size I have been able to follow projects from initial funding to the ship date.

What I wish was different

Would always appreciate a higher pay for the diverse work I was doing and the minimal training given. Did not have a huge amount of say about any decisions more of a fly on the wall but as an intern what can you expect.

Try everything you are given the opportunity for and do your best to learn as much as possible

What I liked

I enjoyed getting experience in a biomedical engineering firm. The company was small so I was able to assist on multiple different projects simultaneously.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had a more defined job role; I often felt that I had no real purpose unless someone asked me to do something.

Talk with your manager and get involved with the projects.
