About Sitka Fine Arts Camp

Sitka Fine Arts Camp is a 501(c)3 nonprofit founded in 1973 in Sitka, Alaska whose mission is to build community in Alaska by providing opportunities in arts, culture, and recreation in an inclusive, educational and inspirational environment. Our programs include a nationally-recognized summer arts program, performing arts series, artist in the schools programs, artist residencies, and the Hames Center, Sitka's community gym. Our flagship program, the Sitka Fine Arts Camp, a leader in arts education, provides interdisciplinary summer programs for kids from around the US and world. Our summer programs have been recognized by both the White House and the National Endowment for the Arts for excellence and innovation in arts education and community building. In January 2011, our organization was gifted 20 acres and 20 buildings of the historic Sheldon Jackson College campus. Over the past four years, over 700 individuals have given over 30,000 volunteer hours toward revitalizing the campus so that it can be used again as a community resource. The next stage of our revitalization project has been focused on filling resurrected campus facilities year-round with housing, event, and workshop rentals.
