Six Flags Over Texas

Lead

May - August 2021 • Arlington, TX

What I liked

While working at Six Flags in the position of a Lead I enjoyed that I was able to test the rides in the morning and afternoons. It made me get over my fear of heights and roller coasters! It was so much fun being able to speak over the microphone and interact with different people every single day. I miss the friends that became almost like family to me. There was laughter, excitement and something new going on every day at Six Flags. I can’t wait to go back and visit!

What I wish was different

I wish I would have been able to get trained at more rides than the few I did get trained at. It also would’ve been nice if we had consistent workers. Every day or other week someone would get fired or people wouldn’t show up when they were suppose too. Also most of money got ate from buying too much food on my break which is completely my fault haha. I kinda wish we had the opportunity to get free lunch in the canteen instead having to pay for that as well as the food around the park.

Advice

My advice to anyone who wants to work in the rides section… There are things I had to do that I was scared, not familiar with, and didn’t want to do but I had no choice. If you are scared of heights you might want to think twice about working at the tallest roller coaster in the park or you can just get over heights like I did LOL. Expect for people to be rude to you when you have done absolutely nothing wrong because it WILL happen. These hours are long and tiring but the pay is great and you will have so much fun and meet so many people by day!

I like the flexibility of this job, the full-times are very understanding.

What I wish was different

Fright fest is always very tiring.

Advice

Firstly, it's a good job to help improve communication and interpersonal skills. It's also a good job for full-time students who need a bit of money throughout the semester and a sure job in the summer. Throughout the semester, you only work weekends, and on breaks, you have the opportunity to work more hours.
