Assistant Counselor

May - August 2019 • Van, TX

What I liked

Getting to do ministry with children and youth, as well as serving my fellow staff

What I wish was different

I wish there had been more staff ministering to staff. I wish we built each other up more and supported each other in our spiritual walk.

Advice

Press into God continually. Actually make sure you are having quiet time in the word every day. Dependence on God is the most important part of doing ministry.

Summer camp counselor

May - August 2019 • Van, TX

What I liked

I loved the opportunity to lead a group of 16 middle school boys through the weeks that they came. I got to build relationships with them and teach them to be men of God.

What I wish was different

It would be great if there was a greater variety of meals. It followed the same cycle weekly and there's only so many times I can eat the same meal set the same time of each week.

Advice

Do not try to do it on your own strength: lean on God for energy, patience, etc.
