Being able to give back to SMASH as a former scholar and I was able to reflect and grow over the summer while mentoring students like me who are first gen, low income, and students of color.
What I wish was different
Nothing is ever perfect but I definitely could do a better job and keep growing.

What I liked
I liked the community that was created. The energy within all of the scholars was fantastic. The program itself was fun.
What I wish was different
Opposite schedules within RA’s made it difficult to be consistent with the scholars.
Advice
I would advise future RA’s to not be afraid to be vulnerable. Being vulnerable and open about personal experiences makes you relatable and shows that you care.
