Solenis

Field Service Technician

May 2022 • Appleton, WI

What I liked

Lots of independent work, I was trusted to do my job without someone constantly over my shoulder. I enjoy my main tasks, pulling samples and platting them. I also liked learning about how the different Biocides interact with the other coatings and seeing the reactions occur (compatibility testing).

What I wish was different

I wish I had a chance to work with more coworkers, I had very little interaction with others and I wish I had a chance to see/ work at other job sites.

Advice

Asking a lot of questions is better than being left feeling like you don't understand. My boss is very nice and understanding and I'd rather spend 20 minutes asking questions so that I can complete a 5-minute task than spend 25 minutes trying to figure out how to do it - with a low level of confidence. Safety is always number one and knowing what you're doing is the best way to stay safe.

Technical Sales Engineering Intern

May - August 2018 • Canton, NC

What I liked

The entire job. I worked with an amazing group of engineers on engineering projects that ranged from converting chemicals on paper machines to optimizing yellow dye usage. I also enjoyed the sales side as I got to work with the operators and mill engineers every day.

What I wish was different

I don’t want anything to be different.

Advice

Always ask questions. No matter if you understand all of the project aspects you are completing, you should always want to learn more.
