Mechanical Engineering Intern

August 2020 • Tempe, AZ

What I liked

The team in Phoenix is smaller, so you get to know everyone at the office pretty quickly. Everyone has been friendly and willing to help. I was able to be responsible for various plumbing and HVAC assets in one major ongoing project and helped with various tasks in many others. Overall I think this experience has given me a solid impression of the scope of the construction industry, which was what I was looking for.

What I wish was different

Advice

Definitely be sure to ask questions, particularly if you are unfamiliar with REVIT or TRACE software. The sooner you can get familiar with the program, the more you will be able to accomplish in your day-to-day tasks.

Electrical Engineering Intern

February - August 2019 • Tempe, AZ

What I liked

It was relaxed and I was paid to learn.

What I wish was different

Any form of formal training. The location they have here in AZ consisted of 3 people when I joined and only one was an engineer so it was INCREDIBLY difficult to learn from others.

Advice

Be sure you know how large the firm is and what your expectations are.
