I wish that the hours had been slightly different and that the manager didn't worry so much about the pay in comparison to the sales. We would always send someone home and then get hammered with a late rush.

What I liked

I liked the environment a lot. It was always fast paced and you're up on your feet for most of the day. It made the days go by easier and you were never bored of your job. You also work in a team and from my experience I had a great coworkers to work with. Their is an unsaid understanding that we must all work together to get the job done.

What I wish was different

Although it isn't something that can be changed, but working in customer service can be really hard. Just like you've always heard, the customer is always right. So, when you're in a situation with a difficult customer, your job is to make them happy, even if it makes you uncomfortable or you didn't even do anything wrong. I understand the whole idea of customer service, but I do wish that people who work in customer service weren't put into situations that they have no choice but to care more about another person than themselves.

Advice

My one piece of advice is to not let anyone get to you. You're going to have bad days and you're going to have difficult customers, but as long as you're fulfilling you're job requirements, thats all that matters. Focus on yourself as a worker, not how customers treat you. Just always treat them with respect so you can walk away knowing you were the bigger person in that situation.

What I liked

I enjoy working with my coworkers and employers that will work with a flexible schedule that is compatible with my summer class schedule. I have worked at sonic for 5 years. I enjoy having a manager that is willing to let me work when I come home from college. I even enjoy my regular customers that get excited when I come home from college.

What I wish was different

If I could change something from my summer work experience, it may be the relationship that I had with an assistant manager. A new assistant manager had been hired this summer and we became friends. However, this assistant manager enjoyed spending time with me as more than friends, it made me uncomfortable. The manager had said things that were inappropriate to me and I was too scared to report it to his boss after saying I didn't like what he had said. Finally the week before I left, I reported it to his boss. She was very understanding and talked to the manager about how it wasn't appropriate.
