SPARCC Sports Medicine

Clinical intern

February - August 2018 • Tucson, AZ

What I liked

Hands on involvement in patient recovery by guiding them through active rehabilitation and connecting with them on a personal basis.

What I wish was different

I can't complain, there's nothing I wish had been different.

Advice

Ask to shadow the doctors! Dr. Mo and Dr. Minor are fabulous people and would be more than willing to have you peek into the patient visits and listen in. I highly recommend.

Sports Medicine Intern

February - August 2018 • Tucson, AZ

What I liked

I loved the daily interaction with patients, who I would get to know personally after multiple clinic visits, helping them with recovery from concussion. The staff, especially the doctors, are extremely kind and don't mind letting the interns shadow them. The friendly environment made it a comfortable experience.

What I wish was different

Well my internship was during the summer, so some days the clinic was slow with not much work to be done, but otherwise the staff found ways to keep my busy.

Advice

Definitely ask to shadow the doctors, you learn a ton about concussions and the physiology behind them. Don't be afraid to introduce yourself to the med students, as they are usually very nice and relatable.
