I absolutely loved supporting young adults throughout their high school career develop as contributing members of society as well as engaging in social, emotional, academic, and career development.
What I wish was different
I honestly wished this experience was already my career. I entered this internship knowing that I wanted to be a school counselor and as I am helping and guiding the students I have seen the impact school counselors have. I have become even more passionate about helping communities of a lower socioeconomic status and have seen the effects of what a good teacher, counselor, principal can do for our students who are the future of our society.
Advice
This career takes resilience. Not everything we see is going to be perfect or convenient. It takes being passionate, resilient, and caring to do this type of service for all communities.
