State Farm

Claims Associate

May - August 2023 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

Focused on your personal growth, focused on teaching interns about the claims process, interact with lots of different departments, talk to customers, build relationships with fellow interns, work on a capstone project. Hybrid work environment and company provided laptop. Competitive pay.

What I wish was different

Wish I was given more time to interact with the people I networked with. Less of a focus on productivity and more on learning. Hands-off managers.

Advice

Literally just be friendly, on time, and try your best. They are not expecting you to be perfect, and they want to make a good impression on you too.

Property & Casualty Claims Intern

May - August 2023 • Richardson, TX

What I liked

I liked the room to grow within the company, the powerful connections the company had, and the positive emphasis on diversity and collaboration.

What I wish was different

I wish that there was more flexibility for time off, acknowledgement of the very difficult claims that I voluntarily worked, and no more "we're a family" mindset.

Advice

The internship pays very well, but I did not love the job. My advice is do not work a job that you know or have a feeling that you won't like just for the pay, because in my opinion, it will not be worth it in the end.
