Ability to ride alongside many different officers, and experience what they see each and every day.
I was able to see the DARE drug resistance program, and help with 8th grade DARE graduation.
I saw mayor's court occur along with many proceedings.
What I wish was different
I had hoped to test my abilities and response to a tragic situation. I am glad that one did not occur, however I had wished to gain experience in one of those particular circumstances.
Advice
Anyone in Criminal Justice, National Security, International Affairs, or a related field should highly consider an internship with a police department.
