Through this internship I was able to see the advocacy side of healthcare. As a future healthcare provider I was able to get a sneak peek into the continual education of physicians and how private non-profit organizations can increase the efficiency of a market. I also felt honored to get to work directly with the President of the SADS Foundation, Alice Lara.
What I wish was different
I wish there had been more person to person contact between myself and the physicians and patients.
Advice
Find internships that contribute to your interests and your future job but find ones that supplement your learning from a different angle or position than you normally receive your learning. If you want to be a healthcare provider, get some experience in patient advocacy.
