I liked the hands on aspect of working directly with the children and being able to play with them, teach them, converse with them, and empower them.
What I wish was different
I wish I had been able to spend more time working in areas apart from just after-school tutoring and other programming so that I could have had a more holistic understanding of what Lotus House does and what I am most interested in.
Advice
Really try to get to know the stories and lives of the people you are around and working with. My relationship with the children and the employees are part of what made my experience so valuable and where I learned the most.
