Swinerton

Intern Project Engineer

June - August 2023 • San Diego, CA

What I liked

I really enjoyed being outside on the job site every day and getting to witness the construction happening right in front of me. Every day had something new to learn and experience. I am glad that I was able to take on a lot of tasks and responsibilities since the job was behind and short staffed.

What I wish was different

I wish there were a few more opportunities to see different projects that Swinerton is working on and meet the other employees.

Advice

Make sure to ask a lot of questions and if you don't know something just ask rather than do it wrong.

Intern Project Engineer

May - August 2019 • Bellevue, WA

What I liked

I really enjoyed the opportunity to be out on the construction sites and gain first hand knowledge from some of the best professionals in the business.

What I wish was different

I would have like to of stayed on one project rather than moving to 3 or 4 different projects through the course of the summer.

Advice

My best advise to any other interns working here would be to soak up as much knowledge as you can because there is going to be more information thrown at you than you will know what to do with and it might be confusing but as long as you are retaining the information you will do great.

What I liked

The company culture, all the inclusion, work life balance. Anyone you would ask questions to would gladly explain why, how and what is being done. Also just to have been given the opportunity to learn and grow when having no prior construction experience.

What I wish was different

To be paid equally as other interns.

Advice

No matter how small of a task something may seem, it is something that has to be done, just make sure to ask a lot of questions because everyone is willing to help in whichever way they can.
