Fast Food Worker

May - August 2019 • San Antonio, TX

What I liked

The thing that made me perceive and continue my education was that I was able to pay off a portion of my student debt and save some money for the coming school year, I was the only thing keeping a smile on my face. I did my best to make sure my distaste for such work didn't impose on those who worked with and the customers I was servicing. The job, just like every other has impacted me for better or worse on how i treat those around me, and that just like me, many people are only a product of their environment.

What I wish was different

That the employer viewed me as an individual rather than an object.

Advice

Don't be afraid to be yourself in a working environment; just because someone acts a certain way doesn't mean that you need to follow suit and do the same. Two wrongs don't make a right; it's you as an individual that can be the difference in someone's life no matter what field you work in because just one smile can make someone's day.

What I liked

I liked being able to connect and meet with other people at the job. I built a lot of good relationships and built a reputation for being a reliable and hard worker. I am still continuing to build that relationship for future endeavors.

What I wish was different

I wish that it was easier I suppose. I had and still have from time to time very long hours and am constantly working to try and save funds. I wish work procedures were perhaps more refined and such so that I could easily understand certain manager's expectations and such.

Advice

I would say that while some would call this job quite a low standard job so to speak, I would say that working in an environment like this helps you to harden up about future endeavors and it sets a good foundation for future jobs as well. It's just as much for the experience as it is for income.
