About Tampa Theatre

Built in 1926 as one of America's major movie palaces, Tampa Theatre was rescued by the community from demolition in the 1970s and today operates as the only nonprofit film and cultural center in the Tampa Bay area that is dedicated to presenting independent, documentary and classic films, celebrating the art of filmmaking year-round. Tampa Theatre presents approximately 500 films each year in a historic setting and provides the unique opportunity for visitors to enjoy new and classic films in one of Tampa’s most beloved places.
