Tapestry Health

Program Developer

June - September 2018 • North Adams, MA

What I liked

Working with a multi-city organization that works in my area, giving back to the community. I also enjoyed working with site and program managers to understand a high-level overview of their challenges, then working directly with program participants and local residents to understand their needs and wants.

What I wish was different

It’s hard to explain what I did to recruiters, even though it is super important and useful work.

Advice

I found outside funding in order to do non-profit work. The Elton John AIDS Foundation paid my summer stipend (divided into bi-weekly checks), and I worked for Tapestry. Don’t be afraid to pursue funding and find ways to do what you want, even if it’s unusual. Be prepared to have to explain it though.
