What I liked

The people, everyone was friendly and always willing to help out. Despite how busy some peoples schedules were, they still made time to speak with us. Employees who had been in the business for years offered their advice and gave insights into the business, which was very helpful. I also liked how they gave us a lot of time to prepare for the insurance exam and for the SIE.

What I wish was different

I wish the program could have lasted longer, working together as a team was very helpful.

Advice

Talk to as many people as you can. Everyone was willing to answer any question you had, so don't be afraid to ask.

What I liked

I enjoyed the internship experience at TFB. I liked the daily meetings with other interns to discuss common practices, language, and listen to successful advisors speak about their experience in the business. I was able to shadow advisors on enrollment client meetings, which was incredibly beneficial. Everyone in the office is friendly and helpful. Also, the work schedule was flexible which gave me time to study for the licensing exams required for this career path.

What I wish was different

I really enjoyed the intern morning meetings, I think it is nice to debrief and work with others. Therefore, I would say possibly add in more discussion conference meetings with the interns.

Advice

To make the most of the experience, network and talk to advisors at the office. Everyone in the office is rooting for you and willing to help/talk to you about their experience. Also, when you are studying for your licensing exams, it helps to study with other interns.

What I liked

It was a very flexible work environment in which I learned a lot of new practical skills. We got to speak with many people who have been in the industry for a long time, and hear what advice they had for us. They also prepared us for careers in the industry by allowing us plenty of time to study for the licensing exams required in this field.

What I wish was different

My only wish would be that the program had been a bit longer, however because of COVID our school year lasted longer than it typically would have and we were required to have a later start date for the internship program.

Advice

Make the absolute most out of your time and speak with as many experienced people as possible. Most of the people at TFB have been very successful doing this type of work for many years and will have a ton of great tips for you getting started in the industry.
